Besides the Dayak tribe, Samarinda City is also inhabited by people from the Bugis tribe who enjoy weaving, leading to the creation of Samarinda sarongs. Samarinda sarongs, dolphins, mining boats, and napung have become iconic symbols of Samarinda and form the "Serenade Mahakam" motif, which has been patented for its creation.
